Sustainability Classes

The College of Sustainability exists to solve problems in the future, as  well as in the present, the Innovative Minds Academy and for the world  at large. The College of Sustainability will educate students on long  term ubiquitous challenges such as providing food, shelter, energy,  healthcare, community, and education to the world. The College of  Sustainability will examine not only technologies, but also ideas,  business models, and social structures that make sustainability  possible. 

Introduction to Sustainability: Building a Resilient Future: Course Description: The course on "Introduction to Sustainability" provides a comprehensive overview of the fundamental concepts, principles, and challenges related to sustainability. Participants will explore the interconnectedness of social, economic, and environmental systems and learn how sustainable practices can help address global issues such as climate change, resource depletion, and social inequality. Home Practices: Building a Greener Future: Course Description: The Sustainable Home Practices course is designed to empower individuals with the knowledge and skills needed to adopt sustainable practices in their homes. By focusing on energy conservation, water conservation, waste reduction and recycling, green cleaning, sustainable gardening, and sustainable food choices, participants will learn how to create a more environmentally friendly and sustainable living environment.

Sustainable Building and Design: Course Overview: The Sustainable Building and Design course is designed to provide participants with a comprehensive understanding of sustainable construction practices, focusing on sustainable building materials, energy-efficient design principles, and green building certifications. Through a combination of theoretical concepts, case studies, and practical exercises, participants will gain the knowledge and skills necessary to make informed decisions regarding sustainable construction and retrofitting existing buildings to improve energy efficiency.

Community Garden and Urban Farming: Cultivating Sustainable Food Systems: Course Description: The Community Garden and Urban Farming course is designed to provide participants with the knowledge and skills necessary to establish and maintain successful community gardens and urban farming projects. Participants will learn about selecting suitable locations, soil preparation, organic gardening techniques, composting, and engaging the community in sustainable food production. Through this course, participants will gain the confidence to create thriving and sustainable food systems within their communities.
